This book has been designed by combining the goodness of the original Wren & Martin text, High School Grammar & Composition, and specialized content developed by a panel of competitive examination experts in the area of the English language. The USP is therefore adapting a classical text to the needs of the various admission and recruitment competitive examination aspirants. Its exhaustive coverage ensures that virtually no competitive examination remains untouched. Students preparing for descriptive tests such as UPSC (Compulsory English and General English Papers of Main Exams) and state PCS examinations, Judicial Services examination, Indian Forest Service examination, Statistical Services and many other examinations in which subjective papers/tests are mandatory will find this book immensely useful. The book is also a boon for those students who are preparing for objective tests such as Banking and Insurance, SSC, UPSC preliminary, Defence Services, Law entrance, Business School entrance examinations, and many other admission and recruitment examinations. A unique feature of this book is demonstration of the connectedness of the concepts and their applications visually, with the help of arrows and pointers. The aspirant will also find questions from recent examinations on virtually every page of the book. An index of examination-wise questions has been included so that the aspirant can choose the sections according to the targeted examination and focus more. Topic-wise distribution of questions in English examination papers - both descriptive and objective - will also help aspirants to undertake a very well directed test-prep program using the book.

Nighantubhga).Description of different groups of drugs and articles of diet is dealt in 24(twenty four) vargas (groups) which form part of chapter 6 is considered the specialityof Bhavapraka. The author frunishes names, synonyms, names in different regions, properties and actions, tests, etc. of drugs of all categories (vegetable, animal andmineral origin). Apart from the drugs which are in use since long, many new oneswhich have come to India through western countries and those used in Unani systemof medicine have also been incorporated in this text. Hence Bhavamira is given thecredit for enlarging the materia medica of Ayurveda with addition of new drugs. This portion of the text is known popularly as Bhvapraka nighantu and has been published seperately with detailed notes by many present day scholars. Madhya Khanda-Middle/second section has 71 chapters dealing with the nidana (aetiology), lakaa (symptomatology), samprpti (pathogenesis) sdhyasdhyat (prognosis) and cikitsa (treatment) of all diseases, with greater emphasis on Kya cikits (inner medicine). Both Kthauadha (formulae from vegetable drugs) and Rasausadha (formulae from mercury and minerals) are mentioned in the treatment. Uttara Khanda-Third and last section has only two chapters, one dealing with Vjkaraa cikitsa (virilification therapy) and the other with Rasayana cikitsarejuvinatory therapy). ( Commentaries Till now only two commentaries in Sanskrit on Bhvapraka are known-1. First one which has no specific name is available in full and printed along with the text.2. Second commentary by name "Sadvaidya siddhanta ratnkara" is written by Jayadeva, son of Jayakrisna on the orders of Maharaja Ranavira Simha, king of Kashmir". This is incomplete and its manuscript is in the library of Jammu.Regarding the first commentary available now, there are doubts about its authorship among the present day scholars, since there is no mention in it. Some scholars opine that Bhavamira the author of the text is also the commentator; some others say, the traditional belief is that Bhvamira wrote only a tippai (short notes/ gloss) and not an eloborate commentary like the one now available; yet others hold the view that the commentator is a person different from Bhavamira and has chosen to remain incognito.1.
